Powerful Beyond Measure

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. This is my favorite quote by author and speaker, Marianne Williamson.

For some reason, we think that in order to be loved by God, we have to keep ourselves small and insignificant; that we really don’t matter, and that God can’t be bothered by someone so unimportant.  But is this true?

Genesis 1:26 states, “And God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness...”  We were made not in the physical form, but in the essence of God.  Jeremiah 1:5 states, “Before you were ever formed in your mother’s womb, I saw you and approved you.”  You came to this earth pre-approved!  By God!

God wants us to be happy, successful, healthy, prosperous, and whole!  John 10:10, Jesus states, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. .”  Jesus came to show us how to become the greatest expressions of who we were meant to be.  In John 14:12, Jesus states, “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these….”  We can believe that Jesus did these miraculous things, and we can believe Him when he says that we can do them also.  It doesn’t matter what faith you belong to, we can all become the best that we were meant to be.

It comes down to the thoughts we think.  Our thoughts become us.  Buddha said “With our thoughts, we create the world.”  Your beliefs, thoughts, and the words you speak have power!  Albert Einstein said, “The world we have created is a product of our thinking; it cannot be changed without changing our thinking.”  And Norman Vincent Peale stated, “The person who sends out positive thoughts activates the world around him positively and draws back to himself positive results.”

The book “As a Man Thinketh” by James Allen states: “‘As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he,” not only embraces the whole of a man’s being, but is so comprehensive as to reach out to every condition and circumstance of his life.  A man is literally what he thinks, his character being the complete sum of all his thoughts.”

Beliefs can be changed.  Mine have changed drastically over the years, and when I trust Spirit, they get better and even more loving.  Not all beliefs are the Truth, but they are true for you in that moment.  Remember, man used to believe that the earth was flat and that the sun revolved around the earth!  People were imprisoned or put to death because they changed those beliefs to another truth.  So, it’s okay if our beliefs change.

So, how do we change the negative and self-defeating thoughts we have towards ourselves and the world around us?  Michael Jackson said it very well in a song he wrote: “I’m starting with the man in the mirror.”  Gandhi said, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”  If we want to change our inner and outer world, it begins with us.

We begin by going within...trusting that inner voice of Spirit who loves us so much.  Stop listening to your egoic thoughts, or those of others who are only trying to bring you down, including those who say they are speaking for God.  How do you know the difference?  God only knows pure, unconditional, perfect love, because that is who God is.  You can tell the difference by asking yourself this:  are you or the other person coming from a place of fear…or love?   If it’s from fear (hate, bigotry, disgust, etc.) and doesn’t feel loving, then it is not from God.  If it is from love (compassion, harmony, uplifting, peaceful) and feels loving, then it is from God.

I say, “You are the best there is and it has nothing to do with anyone else!”  Believe it!  Become it!
